El XII International Youth Film Festival “Plasencia Encorto” está organizado por la Consejería de Educación, Ciencia y Formación Profesional de la Junta de Extremadura, la Filmoteca de Extremadura, el Ayuntamiento de Plasencia (Cáceres) y la Asociación Cultural 24 Fotogramas. Con un marcado carácter educativo, este certamen tiene como principal objetivo fomentar la creatividad audiovisual entre jóvenes de todo el mundo, promoviendo el uso del cine como herramienta de expresión y aprendizaje.
Bases del concurso
Condiciones generales
- Podrán participar aquellas obras realizadas en centros educativos de cualquier parte del mundo, siempre que sus autores no superen los 20 años. Los proyectos deberán estar ideados y ejecutados por los jóvenes, aunque pueden contar con la coordinación de profesores o tutores.
- Cada centro educativo podrá presentar un máximo de tres obras.
- Gastos de alojamiento y viaje: en función de la capacidad organizativa, el Festival cubrirá el trayecto desde el Aeropuerto de Barajas hasta Plasencia para un coordinador y dos alumnos por centro, así como su alojamiento y manutención durante dos días. El coste del vuelo no está incluido.
- En caso de que el cortometraje tenga diálogos, es obligatorio incluir subtítulos en inglés.
- Se recomienda el uso de música original o libre de derechos. La organización no se hace responsable de posibles infracciones relacionadas con derechos de autor. Las obras que incumplan este punto podrían ser descartadas o tener menor valoración en el proceso de selección.
- La duración máxima de cada trabajo será de 10 minutos, incluyendo los créditos.
- Las obras podrán participar en una de las siguientes categorías:
Inscripción
- El plazo de envío de trabajos comienza el jueves 24 de abril de 2025 y finaliza el 28 de junio de 2025.
- No se admitirán obras realizadas antes del año 2023.
- Es imprescindible cumplimentar correctamente la ficha de inscripción, ya que los datos se utilizarán para el catálogo oficial del Festival.
- Si en la obra aparecen menores de edad, el docente o tutor responsable deberá custodiar una autorización firmada por los representantes legales de cada menor.
- La organización se reserva el derecho de reproducir y proyectar las obras seleccionadas, siempre citando a sus autores. Algunas piezas o fragmentos podrán ser utilizados en otros festivales o difundidos en medios de comunicación con fines promocionales.
El XII International Youth Film Festival “Plasencia Encorto” se celebrará del 6 al 8 de noviembre de 2025, con la proyección de los cortometrajes seleccionados. La ceremonia de entrega de premios tendrá lugar el sábado 8 de noviembre de 2025 en el Teatro Alkázar de Plasencia (Cáceres, Extremadura).
La participación en el Festival implica la aceptación íntegra de estas bases y de cualquier decisión que la organización tome respecto a imprevistos no contemplados en ellas. El programa definitivo se comunicará con antelación suficiente. Al asistir al Festival, los participantes aceptan que las fotografías y vídeos realizados durante el evento puedan ser utilizados con fines promocionales y de prensa. Los vídeos seleccionados para la fase final serán anunciados a través de correo electrónico y de la página web oficial del Festival. Las decisiones del comité de selección son inapelables.

The 12th International Youth Film Festival “Plasencia Encorto” is organized by the Department of Education, Science and Vocational Training of the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Filmoteca de Extremadura, the City Council of Plasencia (Cáceres) and the 24 Fotogramas Cultural Association. With a strong educational focus, the festival’s main goal is to foster audiovisual creativity among young people worldwide, promoting cinema as a tool for expression and learning.
Contest Rules
General Conditions
- Eligible works must be produced in educational institutions anywhere in the world, and their authors must not be older than 20 years. Projects must be created and executed by the students, though teachers or tutors may coordinate them.
- Each educational center may submit a maximum of three films.
- Travel and accommodation expenses: depending on organizational capacity, the Festival will cover transport from Barajas Airport to Plasencia for one coordinator and two students per center, as well as their accommodation and meals for two days. Flight tickets are not included.
- If the short film contains spoken dialogue, English subtitles are mandatory.
- It is strongly recommended to use original or royalty-free music. The Festival accepts no responsibility for copyright infringements. Non-compliance may result in disqualification or lower evaluation.
- The maximum duration for each work is 10 minutes, including credits.
- Films may be submitted in one of the following categories: A. Educational public service announcements: on healthy habits, smoking prevention, effects of alcohol and drugs, bullying, inclusion of minorities, gender equality, etc. B. Documentaries: on identity, traditions, popular culture, ways of life, heritage, etc. C. Fiction or animation short films.
Registration
- Submission period: from April 24, 2025, to June 28, 2025.
- Works produced before 2023 will not be accepted.
- The registration form must be fully and accurately completed, as the information will be used in the official Festival catalogue.
- If minors appear in the film, the responsible teacher or tutor must keep a signed authorization from the minor’s legal guardians.
- The organizers reserve the right to reproduce and screen the selected works, always crediting the authors. Some films or excerpts may be shown at other festivals or in media outlets for promotional purposes.
The 12th International Youth Film Festival “Plasencia Encorto” will take place from November 6 to 8, 2025, featuring screenings of the selected short films. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Alkázar Theater in Plasencia (Cáceres, Extremadura).
By participating in the Festival, you accept all of these rules, including any decisions the organization may take regarding unforeseen circumstances not covered in this document. Attending the Festival implies agreement that photos and videos taken during the event may be used for promotional and press purposes. Finalist films will be announced by email and on the official website. The jury’s decisions are final and non-negotiable.
